Chiefs to pay tribute to Union Station shooting victims before opening game

THIS IS FOR A SPECIAL GROUP OF FANS ON THE FIELD. IT WAS VALENTINE’S DAY, A DAY FOR THE COMMUNITY TO SHOW THEIR LOVE FOR THE BACK TO BACK SUPER BOWL CHAMPS. THE CHIEFS ARE REMEMBERING THAT DAY TONIGHT, WHICH TURNED TRAGIC. LISA LOPEZ-GALVAN WAS THE ONLY ONE OF 23 SHOOTING VICTIMS TO LOSE HER LIFE THAT DAY. TONIGHT, HER SON MARK, WHO WAS ALSO SHOT, HER DAUGHTER ADRIANNA, HER FATHER ERIBERTO, HER SISTER CARMEN, AND LISA’S HUSBAND MIKE WILL BE ON THE FIELD AS THE CHIEFS TAKE A MOMENT OF SILENCE TO PAY TRIBUTE TO ALL THE SHOOTING VICTIMS. IT’S ALWAYS GOOD TO TO SEE ALL THE SUPPORT AND AND FROM THE COMMUNITY AND AND SPORTS WORLD AND STUFF. SHE WAS A WONDERFUL WOMAN. ELLIS GOMEZ IS A DECADES LONG, HUGE CHIEFS FAN WHO’S ALSO KNOWN THE LOPEZ FAMILY FOR YEARS. WE’RE SO PROUD OF THE FAMILY. THEY’VE DONE NOTHING BUT GOOD IN THE FAMILY, IN THE COMMUNITY HERE. Andy Alcock KMBC 9 News Reporter A special tribute is planned before the Chiefs game to honor the shooting victims of the Super Bowl victory celebration at Union Station in February.Lisa Lopez-Galvan, 44, was fatally shot. She was among 23 shooting victims, about half of whom were children. Two of them were Lisa’s nieces, who had a special hospital visit from Patrick and Brittany Mahomes. Lisa’s son, Mark Galvan, 22, was also shot.Mark, Lisa’s daughter Adriana, her father Heriberto, her sister Carmen, and her husband Mike Galvan will all be on the field for a moment of silence before the game.“It’s always good to see all the support from the community and the sports world. She’s a wonderful woman. So, she deserves everything that’s coming,” Mike said.“I love and appreciate everybody who has been helping us in this process,” said Adriana, Lisa’s daughter.“Kansas City has been very supportive of us. Just random people that I meet, that we all have met, have said, ‘You know, we’ve been thinking about you. We’ve been praying for you. We are with you.’ It means the world. It really, really does,” said Carmen Lopez-Murguia, Lisa’s sister.A GoFundMe account was set up for Lisa’s husband, son, and daughter in February. The original goal was to raise $75,000. Some 5,300 donations far exceeded that goal, raising $407,817. That total includes $100,000 in donations from Taylor Swift.“I’m a little overwhelmed with all of this stuff. And it is definitely a great feeling, all the support and all the love from the Chiefs and then also from our whole community,” Adriana said.Alice Gomez has lived in Kansas City’s west end for more than seven decades. Her home is heavily decorated with Chiefs memorabilia, both inside and outside. She’s also known the Lopez family for years. Alice will be watching at home with her family as the Chiefs honor Lisa Lopez-Galvan.“That’s a great tribute to Lisa Lopez. It’s a big tribute to her and the family, and they’re very proud. We’re so proud of the family.
